Facial Volume Enhancement

One of the most overlooked changes of the face from the aging process is the profound volume loss that takes place over time. Facial volume loss results from resorption of bone, muscle, and fat and thinning of the skin from loss of collagen and elastic fibers. This is where facial volume enhancement comes in.

Facial volume replacement can be localized to specific areas of volume loss (folds extending from nose to lips) or full facial (pan-facial) correction. Localized areas of correction can be performed with many of the fillers offered at California Skin Institute whereas pan-facial volume correction requires larger volumes of fillers. Pan-facial volume correction with fillers is best handled by Sculptra® Aesthetic which represents one of the most cost-effective solution.

Facial volume enhancement can be performed as a solo procedure or as part of a package with facial cosmetic surgery. For example, the facelift will not correct the fold from the nose to the lip or make changes to someone’s lips, therefore fillers are often combined with surgical procedures.
