Back to School Skin Care

As summer comes to an end and the school year
begins, I would like to offer a few back-to-school skin care tips to help maintain clear and radiant skin.* We all know the stress of school and activities can flare many skin conditions, including acne.* Washing your face twice daily will remove dirt and grime that clog the pores, and I recommend a gentle cleanser that does not dry skin out.* For acne-prone skin, cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and/or sulfacetamide are helpful.*

Having a healthy lifestyle and regular routine will keep skin from frequent flareups.* If you have breakouts, it is important to keep your hands off your face.* Popping or picking at breakouts may lead to permanent scarring and can even spread infection*. If you have a skin condition such as acne, consistent usage of medications prescribed by your doctor is key to having a clear skin.*

In addition to acne, PE classes and outdoor sports can bring direct contact with harmful UV rays that cause skin cancers, aging, and sunspots.* If possible, you should avoid excessive direct sun exposure from 10am to 3pm, and re-apply sunscreen every two hours.* Wearing the proper gear can also block the sun. I am a fan of pure physical sunscreen which contains zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.* To try out different sunscreens and find your personal favorites, please visit any of the California Skin Institute locations for samples.*

Lastly, please visit California Skin Institute if you have any questions about your skin.* California Skin Institute offers the most advanced technologies and treatments, and our expert medical professionals are here to make sure you look and feel good in your skin.* With these tips, you will be camera-ready for the senior picture day.*
