David Allen South, MD
California Skin Institute – Dermatologist Dr. David Allen South
In his own words: “Initially my interest in Dermatology was academically oriented. I taught full time for several years at Stanford University and was Acting Chief of Dermatology at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. At that time I also was involved in clinical research, but spent most of my time supervising medical students, residents and fellows. During those years my interest in dermatologic surgery blossomed and became a dominant interest. This led to leaving Stanford and forming a small group practice in Freedom, CA in l980. I have continued with my teaching at Stanford and the Palo Alto VA Hospital as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in Dermatologic Surgery.
Currently I practice full time with Dr. Kim Albridge. We have succeeded to develop a practice which is patient friendly in atmosphere and décor. Our patients tell us that what they like best about our office is that all calls are answered by a “live” receptionist who knows many of our patients by name, we have a great selection of current magazines, and we make every attempt to see our patients within 5-l0 minutes of their appointment time. We offer a full range of dermatologic services: general skin exams and treatment of all skin disorders, preventative care, excision and repair of skin cancer and melanoma. We also offer cosmetic services such as chemical peels, injection of fillers, Botox, sclerotherapy, and laser services (resurfacing, hair removal, vascular and pigmented lesion removal). Renova, M.D. Forte, Refinity and Obagi products are also available.
We currently accept most insurance plans, including Medicare, however we have chosen not to participate in HMO plans, as we find they are not conducive to quality patient care and satisfaction, nor to a happy work environment.
I am an active participant in community skin screenings, Dermatology talks and presentations. I’m a member of numerous professional societies including AAD, ASDS, AMA, CMA, PDA, SID, SFDS, and SCCMS.
On a personal note, I’m married to a teacher and have two grown “boys.” We are a soccer family and enjoy most outdoor sports, particularly hiking, snow and water sports. My own personal passion is catch and release fly fishing.”
