He is a nationally recognized expert in skin surgery and has received thousands of referrals from dermatologists and other physicians around the Bay Area and beyond for their patients in need of specialized skin cancer surgery, reconstructive surgery, scar revision, laser surgery, and facial, eye, and body cosmetic surgery.
Dermatology and Plastic Surgery
Greg S. Morganroth’s broad repertoire of surgical procedures spans the gap between dermatology and plastic surgery—a practice that is unique to the region and allows him to offer unique solutions to both common and uncommon surgical problems. Since 1995, he has performed over 33,000 Mohs surgery procedures for skin cancer and an equal number of advanced reconstructive surgeries and scar revisions making him one of the most experienced skin cancer surgeons in California. He is also recognized nationally for his unique, minimally invasive cosmetic rejuvenation procedures with local anesthesia. Since 1995, he has performed thousands of facelifts, eyelifts, body sculpting with liposuction, neck sculpting, chin implants, scar revisions, laser procedures, chemical peels, and hair transplants with local anesthesia. Over the past decade, he has developed a niche practice dedicated to helping patients dissatisfied with the outcomes of plastic and reconstructive surgery performed by other surgeons. In 2010, Dr. Morganroth was invited to compete in the Iron Surgeon Competition at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery in Chicago, IL. Based on the votes of over 600 of his surgical peers, Dr. Morganroth won the Iron Surgeon Award based on his superior reconstructive technique and patient outcome.
Training and Expertise
He is a native of Michigan and attended college at The University of Michigan where he graduated with distinction. He received his M.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan School of Medicine where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society and was awarded the Carl Vernon Weller Award for top student in pathology. Dr. Morganroth then left the Midwest for the Ivy League where he completed his internship at the University of Pennsylvania and a dermatology residency at Yale University. At Yale, he realized his true potential as a skin surgeon and decided to pursue a career in dermatologic surgery. Following his graduation from Yale in 1994, he returned to the Midwest to complete a competitive Mohs, Laser, and dermatologic surgery fellowship at the Skin and Mohs Surgery Center, Baptist Medical Center and Hunkeler Eye Clinic in Kansas City, Missouri. During this one year fellowship approved by the American College of Mohs Surgery, he was fortunate to train with a Mohs and laser surgeon, facial plastic surgeon, and an ophthalmic plastic surgeon providing a unique multidisciplinary foundation in skin surgery. Following his fellowship, he moved to Silicon Valley to open his private practice of dermatologic and cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Morganroth is perhaps best known nationally for his own unique, state-of-the-art, local anesthesia skin surgery techniques combining facets of dermatologic surgery, facial plastic surgery, and ophthalmic plastic surgery. His techniques that are quite different from traditional plastic surgery in both philosophy and implementation provide dramatic and natural outcomes with the safety and minimal downtime afforded by the use of local anesthesia.* As a recipient of multidisciplinary training during his fellowship, Dr. Morganroth enjoys collaborating with colleagues from dermatology and other surgical specialties. He is regularly visited by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, and oculoplastic surgeons from the US and abroad to observe him operate at the California Skin Institute. He is frequently invited to present his reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery techniques at national dermatology and facial plastic surgery meetings. New York University invited him to give the keynote lecture at their Advanced Dermatology Course titled “One Perspective on the Future of Advanced Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery”. He has also taught his cosmetic and reconstruction techniques at Stanford University, New York University (a second time), the University of Miami, University of Utah, Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit, Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, and many professional meetings including the annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, Foundation for Facial Plastic Surgery, and California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery. He has held various academic appointments previously that include Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University, clinical faculty of the Mittelman Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship training program based in Los Altos, CA, and as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California at San Francisco. He was founder and co-director of the Next Step Dermatologic Surgery Course at Stanford University in 2004-2005 and revived the Next Step Dermatologic Surgery Course in 2012 where surgeons from around the US and Canada traveled to watch him perform his unique cosmetic techniques at California Skin Institute-San Jose/Los Gatos.

I am very pleased with my Fraxel laser results , lower lid blepharoplasty, filler injections, and Botox injection results. Dr. Morganroth is very skilled at proper placement and knowing the proper amount to inject to produce a natural result . Since I have had extensive reconstructive surgery training during my residency training as a physician, I am very discerning. The cost was much cheaper than going to a plastic surgeon who wanted to do much more, charge more, and would have altered the shape of my eyes. Many of my colleagues were shocked that a dermatologist performed these procedures, and that I had the best results that they had seen. I highly recommend Dr. Greg Morganroth!* – Heidi T.
Dr. Morganroth did my upper eyelids and I am very happy with the result. It looks so natural. He is just one of a kind that I absolutely trust. He knows what he is doing and it shows. I also have been taking care of really well by all his staff. Dr. Morganroth is straightforward, down to earth, very driven but most importantly skilled and talented. I highly recommend him to anybody looking for great results and peace of mind. Thanks to you Dr. Morganroth.* – Sonia L.
I had two subcision procedures done recently by Dr. Morganroth. The staff and the doctor are very professional and to the point. It was quick. Prior, I had suffered from severe acne and I am now trying to repair my scarred face. Although I will be getting more done in the future, I am overall pleased with the results.*- Darlene
I want to take a moment to thank you (Dr. Greg S. Morganroth in Mountain View) for my wonderful new face. I’m still staring a bit too long in the mirror, but I’m certain that will pass. I’ve had many comments on my weight loss, my new haircut, the excellence of my colorist and how restful my trip to California must have been. No one who has seen me since my trip has guessed the truth—and it’s all thanks to you! I’ve also been carded when I say I’m a senior. Congratulations!* I would like to acknowledge not only your expertise, but also your ability to put together an amazing staff. In particular, I would like to congratulate you on having Kimberly DiBenedetto on your team. Her caring manner and genuine warmth are a perfect counterpoint to your calm efficiency. What an incredible business model. Having Kimberly support your patients through all the phases of treatment is inspired. And she does such an incredible job. I have felt as though I’ve had a personal friend in your office. Stepping into the unknown world of cosmetic enhancement is nerve-wracking at best, and sometimes downright scary. Through it all Kimberly has been a shining light of calm professionalism.* Thank you so much for being the very best at what you do. I am so grateful!* – Helen L. Bend
Dr. Morganroth is an absolute expert in the field of Skin Cancer treatment. After noticing a spot on my nose that changed over time, I scheduled an appointment with him (many colleagues recommended). The receptionist helped me schedule my appointment with ease!* If I ever have another spot that comes back as BCC(Basal Cell Carcinoma), I will go to Dr. Morganroth in a heart beat. He truly is the BEST.* – Ashlea M.
Have never had problems here. No problems with my insurance (UHC). Thanks to Dr. Morganroth for his timely diagnose and highly professional treatment – otherwise I would not be able to write any review on this planet.* – Viktor M.
I was a patient of Dr. Morganroth fourteen years ago. The results of Mohs treatment on my nose back then were excellent!! This time I am facing Mohs surgery on my forehead. After visiting a different doctor close to my home, I was given far more complex instructions relative to surgery than before. The gravity of the instructions from this local doctor plus the warnings of many different things that could go wrong was quite disturbing. Dr. Morganroth answered all of my questions directly and I felt far more confidence in his abilities as a doctor especially given his success with me in the past!* – Avril M.
I just wanted to drop your office a note and compliment Dr. Morganroth + staff for the amazing work, kindness, and level of care I received during my Thursday office visit. Everyone was highly personal and thorough with explanations, and I didn’t feel like a number. I just should have boarded a plane and come to California to see you sooner.* I am pleased with my results and cannot thank you enough. I will be seeing you again in the near future.* – Denise C.
I wanted to let you and Dr. Morganroth know that you guys have an AWESOME team of nurses and receptionist. Please express my appreciation to the entire medical staff… I especially want to thank the nurse in the OR…. and the nurse yesterday [who] took out my stitches. Along with all the others, everyone is so professional and made me feel at ease with my surgery… If your office gives out kudos to the staff please do so on my behalf. Let them know their assistance did not go unnoticed.* – Vicki, 58, San Jose
Dr. Morganroth is simply amazing and I highly recommend him! I had been doing research for 5 years seeking a Doctor for facial surgery. Every consultation , with these well known and highly recommended physicians, ended up with the same long list of facial procedures they recommended to be done. When I walked out of each consultation I didn’t feel comfortable, safe or confident with the doctors or their facility and all their patients had that scary plastic surgery look. BUT THEN…. I went to a seminar given by Dr. Morganroth and I was impressed at how confident he was with his facial procedures. I went in for a consultation and Dr Morganroth asked me what I was wanting to have done and my response was, you’re the expert so you tell me what you see needs to be done. He recommended the face and neck lift under local anesthesia and best of all I was wonderfully amazed with his honesty when he said I needed nothing else done and that I would be happy with the results. No other UN-necessary procedures were recommended. I had the face and neck lift and Dr. Morganroth was right, I could not have been happier with the results!!!! The recovery was quick, the staff was absolutely wonderful and Dr. Morganroth’s work was simply impeccable! My face looks completely natural. Thank you Dr. M. for making me feel happy in my skin again!* – Margo L.
