N-Lite Laser

California Skin Institute strives to provide patients with the widest array of skincare solutions and technologies, such as the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser, which can treat a variety of skin conditions, like acne scars and wrinkles, with virtually no downtime for the patient. Further, the outcomes can be quite dramatic after just a few treatment sessions. We do this because every patient is unique and requires a customized treatment approach to achieve the best outcomes. As part of this devotion to excellent patient care, we regularly add new technologies to put some of the best tools in the hands of our providers.

How the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser Works

The idea behind the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser is to stimulate the production of collagen fibers within the skin. This is accomplished with low-energy yellow light, which stimulates the body’s natural healing processes.

This laser treatment approach is different than laser skin resurfacing. In the latter, the idea is to target cells at specific skin layers, in order to remove damaged cells and replace them with healthy skin. As such, the resurfacing procedures can be quite aggressive, with healing times that can extend into several weeks. Further, the side effects can include skin peeling, crusting, and significant redness.

Although laser skin resurfacing can be an effective treatment option that achieves outcomes quickly, some patients may simply be unable to take the necessary time off work or other obligations to undergo treatment.

With the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser, on the other hand, the treatment has virtually no side effects and no downtime. Because this laser skin treatment doesn’t destroy cells, there is no significant redness or skin peeling.

What the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser Treats

The N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser treats a number of skin conditions including acne scars, spider veins, and wrinkles.

When it comes to scars, this laser acne treatment can be especially effective on pitted scars. By stimulating the growth of collagen fibers, the depth of acne scars can be reduced, thus easing their appearance.

Wrinkles and spider veins can also be addressed with the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser’s ability to stimulate the body’s regenerative processes. Wrinkles are diminished primarily through the same process as the laser acne scar treatment; the light stimulates collagen growth, which in turn improves skin elasticity.

The appearance of spider veins is reduced because the immune system is “fooled” by the laser into thinking that a particular blood vessel is damaged, and the vein is eventually removed by the body’s natural healing processes.

Is N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser Safe?

Yes, this treatment is safe for laser scar removal, wrinkle treatment and spider veins. The light energy is quite low, which significantly reduces the possibility of side effects. Further, California Skin Institute providers have deep experience with this laser and have received very extensive and nuanced training on how to best calibrate the light energy and application techniques. Having helped thousands of patients get rid of acne scars and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, California Skin Institute providers can custom tailor the N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser treatment to your needs.

How Long do Laser Treatment Results Last?

Individual results will vary and the number of treatments will depend on your unique situation. However, patients generally need multiple treatments to see the best outcomes.

After the initial treatment sessions, an upkeep treatment may be needed to maintain results.

What to Expect During Treatment

The N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser treatment is relatively quick, and can be performed in as little as 30 minutes. Many California Skin Institute patients even come in during their lunch break to get it done.

Because of the low energy level of the laser, patients experience virtually no pain or discomfort.

N-Lite Pulsed Dye Laser Side Effects

The side effects of this laser treatment are typically mild. In some cases, patients may experience mild bumps on the skin or general redness. However, these will typically resolve within a few days. Most of the time, however, no visible signs of treatment are present.
