Restylane®

At California Skin Institute, we’ve helped many patients achieve the appearance of younger, smoother facial skin using Restylane® dermal filler injections. This filler is a safe, natural treatment alternative to plastic surgery and does not require general anesthesia. This filler works by restoring volume under the skin, which helps smooth out facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds, for example). Restylane® is a very versatile filler that has been successfully used by our medical providers on many parts of the face because the formulation is very smooth and allows us to create outcomes that look natural.

California Skin Institute is a Top 100 Restylane Provider

California Skin Institute has been named a Top 100 volume injector of Restylane ®. This Top 100 recognition is a testament to our experience and expertise with the Restylane product and procedure, making our practice the destination of choice for high patient satisfaction with quality outcomes.

What is Restylane®?

Restylane® is a term often used to describe a family of facial fillers manufactured by a company called Galderma. Additional fillers under this brand include Perlane®, and Restylane® Silk, among others.

However, it’s important to distinguish between all of these options, as each is formulated differently, to give patients a wide range of options.

For example, Restylane® Silk is a filler created specifically for lip enhancement, while Restylane® is the original version of the product, which can be used on most parts of the face.

This filler is a gel that is formulated with hyaluronic acid. It is primarily used to temporarily correct wrinkles caused by loss of collagen and volume beneath the skin.

How Restylane® Works

The main ingredient in Restylane® is a non-animal-based version of hyaluronic acid. When the gel is injected into the skin, it provides immediate volumizing effects, which are further enhanced by attracting moisture to the treatment area. The increase in volume smoothes out wrinkles by giving the skin support.

What Restylane® Treats

Restylane® is a versatile filler that can be used on many parts of the face. California Skin Institute providers have successfully used this filler for frown lines, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, and even orbital troughs.

When you visit one of our providers for a consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment for your unique needs.

What to Expect During Treatment

During your Restylane® treatment, your California Skin Institute provider will first assess whether this filler is the best choice for your situation or if an alternative may be a better option. When the treatment starts, a topical anesthetic will be applied to minimize any discomfort. Further, our providers may choose to use Restylane-L, which combines this filler with lidocaine, a local anesthetic.

One of the most important considerations when using this filler is to ensure the symmetrical appearance of the face after treatment. Symmetry plays a large role in creating an aesthetically pleasing appearance, which makes it vital to gauge the right amounts of filler, especially when the original wrinkles are not symmetrical.

At California Skin Institute, we pay great attention to this aspect of dermal fillers, and our doctors don’t just have an extensive understanding of the theory behind maintaining symmetry, but significant hands-on experience achieving symmetrical outcomes.

Does Restylane® Hurt?

California Skin Institute providers are experts at performing injections with little or no discomfort for our patients. We will use local or topical anesthetics to ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

How Long does Restylane® Last?

Maximum improvement from Restylane® injections will appear a few weeks after treatment, once the hyaluronic acid has had the time to draw moisture to the treatment site.

Over time, the hyaluronic acid is broken down by your body. However, this filler is formulated in such a way that this process allows each molecule to bind to more water molecules, thus allowing the filler to maintain the volume longer.

Over time, the same volume can be maintained with less of the active ingredient. After just one Restylane® treatment, outcomes can be visible for several months, or longer with upkeep treatments.
