Smoothbeam®

What is Smoothbeam®?

Smoothbeam® is the first laser treatment designed to target acne at the root of the problem – the overactive sebaceous glands. Smoothbeam® may effectively be used to treat acne and oily skin, improve the appearance of acne scarring and increase collagen production, which results in a rejuvenated complexion.

What does Smoothbeam® Laser treat?

Smoothbeam® is used to treat:

  • Active acne
  • Oily skin
  • Scars (acne scarring)
  • Enlarged sebaceous glands

What are the benefits of using Smoothbeam® Laser?

  • Smoothbeam® is a noninvasive procedure
  • Minimal downtime is required following treatment
  • Smoothbeam® is a safe and effective treatment for all skin types

How does it work?

Smoothbeam® works by effectively targeting overactive sebaceous glands that cause acne while stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. The Smoothbeam® utilizes a non-ablative laser and a cooling spray to alternately heat and cool the skin. This alters the functionality of the sebaceous glands by damaging them and stops them from overproducing sebum.

What is the Smoothbeam® procedure like?

During a Smoothbeam® procedure, a gentle laser stimulates the formation of new collagen just beneath the surface of your skin.

A Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) alternately it used to spray the skin with a fine mist of cryogen before, during, and after the laser pulse, which cools and protects the surface of your skin.

The entire procedure is quick and relatively comfortable throughout. If you choose, a topical numbing cream may be applied to decrease any discomfort during the procedure.

Who is an ideal candidate for Smoothbeam® treatment?

Smoothbeam® is ideal for people who suffer from acne and oily skin as a result of overactive sebaceous glands. It can also be used to improve the appearance of post-acne scarring.

For those who are seeking anti-aging treatment, Smoothbeam® can also be used to rejuvenate collagen production and improve your overall complexion. Your physician will evaluate your skin and work with you to determine if you would benefit from Smoothbeam®.

How long until I see results?

Optimal results typically require multiple treatments. Depending on your skin, your physician may recommend 4-6 treatments. Each patient is different, but some patients see improvements to the skin after their second or third treatment.
